Herstory of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
(Left to Right) Founders Annette A. Ettrick, Brunilda Y. Cruz, Ileana Adorno, Nancy Diaz, Sara Delgado, Sylvia Toledo,
and Jane M. Vega

Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was founded on March 15, 1989 at the State University of New York at Albany by seventeen dedicated women of various cultural and ethnic backgrounds. They came together because they realized the apathy toward Latina women and decided to initiate change. They agreed to create an organization to fight the injustices historically suffered by our gender.

OPBSI is an academic and community service based sorority that consists of a diverse membership of women who celebrate womanhood through a common goal of creating new standards for women in today’s society through education and community involvement.
